The office is currently using AutoCAD 2000i, but sometime this year we will
switch over to 2005. Over the years there were two express tools that have
come and gone and I was just wondering what happened to them.

1) In the Express tools that came with R14, there was an AutoCAD Database
Viewer command. I used to use this to examine loaded linetypes to see if my
drawings contained linetypes defined in a mix of metric and imperial. It
also proved useful solving a number of other problems. The tool disappeared
with 2000i. Was it replaced?

2) XREFEDIT was a simple utility to open in a new AutoCAD session an xref.
It's appears to have been replaced by REFEDIT which allows "in-place"
editing of xref's. I can see how REFEDIT could be quite useful for making
minor changes to a drawing, but my users much prefer to open the xref in a
separate drawing window and carry out their modifications. Is the old
version, namely XREFEDIT, still available?

I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

1. Don't know about the databas viewer but,

2. Core command XOPEN will let you pick an xref to open in a new window.

1.) Was called DBView (this is for AutoCAD 2004, but might work for 2005)
Warning:This tool if used improperly can cause a drawing file to get
corrupted.

2.) XOPEN is a core command now (as Casey Roberts pointed out)
