I think, the amount of shots is not really the issue as to what prompted Gerald to lunge. In some police movies and citizen footage of live shooting incidents, the case is usually what the officers said to PROMPT the already disturbed Gerald. The 15 shot is just 7 shots from the Cops in their mono mind of we are God attitude. Quite typical in newly armed rookies!
The average person does not seek a "Suicide by Cop" but many Cops Nwest/Swat/etc., like all the semi-retired rcmp members like "Scotty, Tony, Whistling..." are too eager to oblige. They are also on a type of witness protection program which rivals the cost of Sonny Gravano jr. fundings.
These rookies can just make some " insanity" plea and walk freely till the next event., they're young and will forget quicker than sentient people. Hell this is where menopause is a good law-court reason in their favor.
B.C. has a few good common sense judges that will make them remember longer, but Maggie Gisle us up against a lot in any event, even for some minor compensation.
