 | My VAR sent me this link, I haven't done anyhting with it yet, but he said that some guys from SWX had come in an talked to them about SWx problems being related to memory. I emailed him back asking him to elaborate, no reply yet.
I thought some of you might find it useful though...

 | I have this too, but it won't find the kinds of power supply problems I am talking about. I have even put a scope on the power supply and was not able to see these glitches. Sometimes when a power supply goes bad it does so by not being able to supply power quickly enough when the processor goes from drawing a little power to fulll power. This happens in nano-seconds an no mobo based power meter is going to be able to see this.

 | gees, I didn't know that it is such a complicated situation. is it a specific problem with your hardware or is it a common problems that many systems have? if mine has it I'm totally unaware of it!

 | I wish there was a power supply diagnostic. I have twice run into failing power supply problems and both times they were extrememely difficult to diagnose.

Yeh, and they're usually extremely damaging when they go belly up.

 | my Intel motherboard has power supply + thermo diagnostic, it is called Intel active monitor. it wouldn't tell you which component of your system is consuming what amount of power but it tells you the overall power supply status to the processor and to the rest of the motherboard including any cards which are connected. so if you are about to connect a new card to your system you can check the status before connection and after and compare the results, if the decline in power is too sharp or dangerous to the hardware then you need to replace the power transformer to a stronger one.
cheers, Gil Alsberg
