 | I bought a Labtec desktop microphone on ebay and plugged it into my sound card, which is either a "C-Media PCI Audio Legacy Device" or a "CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device" -- both are listed in my systems, and I don't know which one is the real one. The audio card already has functioning speakers plugged into it. The speakers aren't labtec, they're some brand I bought at the computer store.
Anyway, when I plugged the mic and spoke into it, the sound registered in the speakers. But when I tried to record a test, first using audio recorder, then using the program that came with my webcam, then using Windows Media player, in all cases, it acted as though it recorded, but upon playback there was silence. What could be wrong?
