Hi,

At the moment I am using a DOS based PC with several IO-boards to
operate a machine with a lot of sensor and servo systems. The fastest
intterupt routine is 1ms. It's running on a 133Mhz 486 machine and is
still fast enoughe.

Because the limitations of DOS and the supported hardware. I want to
change to an other OS.

Does any one has an idea which OS is the best. Windows, Linux, QNX,
VxWorks etc...

Thanks,
Rogier

Windows, Linux can't deliver the requested real-time behavior.
So QNX and VxWorks are the remaining candidates.

For the first step you could try to do a test implementation with the
non-commercial version of QNX6.2.1 (if cost is an issue).

But I believe there is also an evaluation version of VxWorks available.

It won't be Windows.
