 | Well, from the recent news reports, it seem that from the probe that we sent
to Titan, there are literally *lakes* of liquid methane... Harvesting it
should solve the world's dependency on the Middle East for oil and gas,
right? Once they can't get any money for their oil and gas, they won't have
any money to finance terrorism and they can go back to being the POOR camel
fuckin' Bedoins that they have been throughout history...
All we need to do is find a way to get the methane back here from Titan...
Minor problem, right? So close and yet so far away...
Oh, hear about the new biodiesel brand being promoted by Willie Nelson --
BioWillie? I hope they're successful... I drove the Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 Quad
Cab pickup with the diesel and it definitely had acceptable accelleration...
Not quite as much as the Hemi that I bought, but acceptable none the less...
If they hadn't priced it so much higher than the Hemi, I might have gotten
it instead...

Best I remember, the diesel was around $5K more than the hemi... The 3/4 ton
was yet another $5K higher than the 1/2 ton... It wasn't worth it to me at
the time... I would need to burn a lot of fuel before it paid off...

I paid exactly $3k more for the 3/4 ton diesel than I would have for the
1/2 ton Hemi. Got a bigger payload, antilocks (standard on the 3/4, a
$2k option on the 1/2), and a bigger towing capacity (which I have
exceeded by over 50%).
You gotta haggle at the end of the month. Much better deals to be had then.

I was just quoting what I remember of sticker price... As far as actual
price, I paid invoice minus 1%, minus the various other discounts (a few
thousand, if I remember correctly)... I found out later that the dealership
didn't include a jack and they won't now give me one... If I had it to do
over, there is no way I would buy a vehicle from Lakeshore Chrysler Dodge in
Slidell again... The dealership that I used to frequent in Houston (Archer
Jeep) was pretty good.... I would not have a problem buying a new vehicle
from them again, but I'll be damned if I'll give Lakeshort any business
again...

sticker price and actual price have little in common. The only
disadvantage with a diesel is the lack of heat on short trips. An
advantage in the summer time is the fact that it will run on a mix of
30% diesel and 70% used french fry oil in the stock configuration.
later this year, I'm gonna modify it to run on 100%. (except for startup)
so for 9 months or so of the year, I get free fuel.

Yeah, but it's the only thing I could even come close to remembering off the
top of my head... I would have to actually make the effort to dig up the
actual sale invoice to see what I actually paid... Because of the deal that
Chrysler has with their various suppliers, I got a 1% less than invoice on
whatever vehicle I wanted to purchase plus whatever normal discounts were
going on... I seem to remember that the normal discounts were probably
somewhere around $4K... So, invoice minus $4K minus 1%... At that point, the
1% is not that much... Probably only $200 or so... I was assuming that the
markup percentage between invoice and sticker was the same for both
vehicles... I don't think that I ever really looked at the invoice price on
the 3/4 ton diesel though since it was more expensive and was a charcoal
color -- I was wanting a lighter color due to the heat along the Gulf Coast
in the summer... Actually, I wanted white, but couldn't find it, so I ended
up with an almond like color... I might try the diesel next time, but if
it'll be another 10 years if it works out anything like my Jeep... Hell,
I've still got my Jeep -- it's just become a little more of a true utility
vehicle... It's better off-road than the Dodge because it is smaller and
will allow me to turn around in places where I might not have that option in
the truck...

I started out at 7% below invoice and the applied the discounts, and
negotiated the price down from there. Next time, pay me to negotiate for
you. I'll save you some money

They are long, aren't they? Mine is the short bed, and even that is

makes for cheap fuel except during the winter months.

How did you manage that? Some sort of different supplier discount? The
2005s were already in?

I've got the 2004 Quad Cab 4x4 with the 'short' bed... Yep, pretty long... I
don't just do a U-turn in the middle of the street anymore... I was on a
road that got progressively worse the other day, all the way to the point
where it was more of a one lane mud pit that was between two ditches...
Having seen how little bottom there can be in the 'ground' around here that
is flooded, I wasn't exactly crazy about the idea of trying to turn around
there... It would have been difficult, but my Jeep could have done it... I
had a choice of backing up for a mile or so through a lot of mud or
continuing on, hoping for a better place to turn around... Luckily, it went
to higher ground after another mile and there was a small area that I could
use to turn around... One advantage of an almond colored truck is that it is
the color of the mud...

Does it have to be heated prior to use?

As these supplies must be regarded as "secondary", you have to use
surgical tubing to feed it to earth.
Must be a rather long hose for a secondary, though.
