Hey, if you're raised in a Christian environment, a small town, and
you've never really studied evolution or attended a philosophy course,
you're not likely to want to challenge your own beliefs. Whether they
are your own beliefs or if they were merely forced upon you, it's not
because you're stupid, it's because you don't want to admit you might
have had it all wrong for 30 years of your life. Online debates are
proof that people generally don't like to admit to being wrong, so
they'll just stick to their beliefs.

Exactly. What can God do for me that I can't do for myself? (Bearing
in mind that God has yet to prove himself able to cure cancer.)
And the reason there is no atheist movement is because a movement
inherently means that you're attempting to press your beliefs on
someone else, which is a fundamental component of most religions... or
at least the semitic ones.
