I like that Pres Bush is talking about allowing people to opt out for
private investment instead of the dying Social Security program.

But I was saddened to see that Mr. Bush was talking the same old line
that we hear from people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson today.
Here we have continued operation within our government of a welfare
state, with affirmative action and lots of people calling for taxation
and laws that favor their pressure group. Racist hiring policies like
affirmative action spell disaster when they take precendence over
product quality or military safety.

So the President gets up on MLK Day and says "Great causes require
Great Sacrifices", meaning everything and nothing. His words have just
enough vaguary to justify a dictatorship, if you want to read that into
it. His words could also be an insult to a minority with an ounce of
self-esteem, because it signifies that minorities require sacrifices to
help them succeed. That doesn't sound like equal opportunity. Bush is
talking guaranteed success for racial minorities, at a heavy cost to us
all.

This mixed message is not a good thing.
The president should have shut his mouth and let Bill Cosby deliver the
speech for him.

As long as Republicans keep talking about guaranteed success for racial
minorities, we will keep having problems with racial minorities
demanding a guarantee of success.

Yea, this issue is ripe all right - just remember that votes are the
name of the game. Minority leaders, along with the comedian Cosby,
need to make that case...I agree with you there.

But he's got to say something...and if you happen to care about any
political or social issue in America, it'll also disappoint you to hear
a modern politician speak on it.

Jefferson escaped scandal over his affair with a slave by simply
remaining silent about it. He never spoke a word...that's half of it,
but the problem comes in the other half when a politician 'has to' say
something...then it's a pile of shit to the person who cares about the
issue, and written to be safe for the rest of the population who cold
care less, but will still hear what he has to say.

Sir, I know Pericles (well, I've read about him) and you are no
Pericles. For one thing he took more pride in his diction than to use
made up words. "Vaguary"? It might be a Bushism but it's far below the
standards of Pericles. For another Pericles fought for the betterment
of his people instead of trying to exclude some of them from equality
and prosperity.

Change your ways or find a more suitable moniker such as "Mongle".
