Elections Machines or Hand counts ?

I see that City council is considering getting rid of the election
machines in favor of manual hand counts...

Seems logical to me that in order of verifying the election results
with the election machines, that we at least manually hand counting 1,
2 or 3 polls after the election as an audit procedure.

To verify the electronic voting system, manually auditing one poll,
after the election, is preferred than no audit, and auditing 2 or 3
audits would be better than one. Remember computer programs can be
manipulated the day of the election.

We should not have to manually count all polls, unless the costs, and
the qualitative values of an old fashioned manual count so merit
getting rid of the new system.

If we can define a better system for Thunder Bay, then why should we
not share it with the world...?

We are becoming a global village...?

Mostly wanted to make sure you knew what kind of newsgroup this is. Some
Americans see "sf" in the names of newsgroups devoted to speculative
fiction, and send notices of San Francisco events. Some Canadians see "mn"
in newsgroup names, don't bother to look and see what's actually in the
groups, and send flames about Manitoba politics to Minnesota newsgroups.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm going to get this one to my city council.

You don't seem to have noticed that this is an _international_ newsgroup.
