Bipartisan appeal

Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush met up yesterday at their old home -
the White House - to tape an appeal to Americans to donate money to
tsunami relief.

But are there hidden agendas beneath Washington's humanitarian work?

Bush-bashing filmmaker Michael Moore yesterday applauded Dubya for
sending Secretary of State Powell and Florida's Gov. Jeb Bush to the
disaster area.

"He did the right thing," Moore told us. "I don't think people should
say it's just political" for the President to give his brother the
statesmanly task.

Still, Moore couldn't help but wonder "why did they choose Jeb instead
of, say, Sen. Susan Collins [R-Maine] ... I don't think anybody should
be surprised that they're preparing Jeb Bush to run in '08. And the
Democrats should count on Jeb winning."

Hoping to keep that from happening, Moore is challenging Dems to think
like Republicans.

"Who's our Arnold?" Moore asked Faye Dunaway, Nora Ephron, Julian
Schnabel, Griffin Dunne, Karen Duffy and others at a lunch celebrating
his New York Film Critics award for "Farhenheit 9/11."

"[Republicans] run people who are stars. When we run people who are
stars - rock star Bill Clinton, movie star John Kennedy - we win."

"Who wouldn't vote for Caroline Kennedy?" he went on. "Who wouldn't
vote for Tom Hanks?"
